Of the Even More Space seats, I’d opt for window or aisle seats in rows 2, 3, 4, 5 or 11. Even More Space seats vary in price depending on the route and the seat you select — an exit-row seat on a short New York-JFK to Boston (BOS) hop could cost $27, while a far longer JFK-Reno (RNO) upgrade near the front of the cabin costs $75. While 32 inches of pitch may not sound like much, at 5’9″ I had enough room to use a laptop comfortably, even with the seat in front reclined, thanks in part to the slimmer design (and a slight reduction in the recline of each seat).

The aircraft will not have television screens in the seats. United is moving away from that approach on newer domestic aircraft, preferring a system that allows customers to stream content on their own laptops, tablets and smartphones. United launched its streaming service in 2014, and all of its Airbus A319s and A320s now have it, as well as many aircraft flying international routes.
An airline spokesman said the 737 technology is similar, though not identical, to earlier iterations. United and other airlines like streaming entertainment because it does not require them to install so much heavy and expensive equipment in the cabin. Passengers — at least those who bring their own devices — generally like the platform, though some complain that United requires them to download the airline’s app before they can watch on a mobile device.
United’s older 737s will not get the new system and will keep DirecTV, which streams live television to seat-back screens. However, United is no longer installing that system on newly delivered aircraft. One benefit of United’s streaming content is that it is free.

Image source, Getty Images Travellers choose to sit on the right hand side of an aeroplane rather than the left, a new study has found. Edinburgh researchers found people’s preference over which side they sit on was dictated by the “mind’s rightward bias in representing the real world”.
The study was led by a Queen Margaret University professor and carried out at Edinburgh University. Thirty-two people, aged between 21 and 31 years old took part in the study. There were 21 women and 11 men. They were all right-handed and had normal or corrected-to-normal vision. The research was the first fully controlled study looking at where people would choose to sit on planes.
The participants were asked to choose a seat by clicking on a seating plan diagram. They did this for 32 separate flights between fictional locations.

Assembly Line – The fuselages arrive at the assembly plants by either Beluga aircraft in the case of Hamburg and Toulouse or container ship in the case of Taijin and Mobile. The forward section is built in France whilst the after section is built in Germany.
- At the assembly plant they are first moved to Station 41 where the two parts are joined together and so the process begins.
- From Station 41 the joined fuselage is then moved to either Station 40 or 35 which both perform the same function.
- The wings that were manufactured in the UK are then joined to the fuselage as are engine pylons, landing gear and other main components.
Next the emerging aircraft is moved to a multi purpose bay where internal systems and cabin are installed and fully tested. From here they complete pressure testing, fuel testing, engine installation and run up testing and painting. The aircraft is then test flown and readied for acceptance by the customer.

Its a safety feature” Well, it’s not true that they never recline. It depends on the type of emergency exit door. If it’s the small over-wing exits like on the A320, 737, and others, then the rows immediately in front of each exit generally don’t recline because getting to the exit requires negotiating a very narrow row between seats.
