- To turn the setting off for that contact:
- In the Messages app, open the conversation with that contact.
- Tap on the “i” icon at the upper-right of the screen.
- Turn off Do Not Disturb.
- Tap on Done (upper-right).

It’s not necessary to delete then re-enter the contact. All he has to do is open a text from this contact, tap the little circle with the i in it and uncheck Hide Alerts for this contact.
